COORDINATOR OF AQUATICS & ASSISTANT COORDINATOR FOR INTRAMURAL SPORTS AND FACILITIES
Areas of Responsibility
Coordinate and manage the aquatics facility and programs:
o Recruit, supervise, and thoroughly train lifeguards, instructors and student supervisors.
o Teach group swim lessons, CPR-Pro and Lifeguard Certification classes each semester.
o Maintain accurate records and data pertaining to user loads, program participation, assessment and budget.
o Manage the Recreational Swim Program including member recruitment and setting program guidelines.
o Conduct swim testing for all applicable sports clubs and summer camp programs.
Assist in the supervision and implementation of intramural sports:
o Produce select league schedules, tournament brackets, and single/dual event schedules.
o Assist in the purchase, inventory, and maintenance of all equipment and apparel used for intramural sports
o Conduct captain?s meetings and serve as commission for select intramural sports.
o Assist with mentoring and training intramural sports supervisors sport officials.
Provide support for recreation facility scheduling and daily operation:
o Assist with late evening and weekend coverage of assigned recreational events and the facility.
o Coordinate and implement a risk management plan that provides for the well-being of program participants.
o Assist with facility scheduling meetings and supervision of programs hours of open recreation.
o Coordinate marketing efforts and outcome assessment for all program areas under the position?s responsibility.
o Participate as an active member of staff by attending weekly departmental and divisional meetings.
o Take the lead role in organizing the department?s summer All Sports Recreation Camp.
Qualifications:? Bachelors? degree and two years experience with college / community aquatics or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.? Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard instructor and experience with swimming lessons and Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.??
Compensation:? Proposed start date for this position is July 1, 2012. This is a 12-month appointment with a salary range of $21,000 to $23,000 and includes on-campus housing and medical insurance. Weekend and evening work is often required. The position is viewed as a one to two-year paid apprenticeship and reports to the Associate Dean of Students/Director of Recreation Services.?
