How to Keep Your Dog Cool in Triple Digits | KTXL FOX40

SACRAMENTO-

With triple-digit heat expected the next couple of days, we humans aren?t the only ones looking for a way to beat the heat.

?If your hot and uncomfortable outside, so are your pets,? said Gina Knepp the Animal Care Services Manager for the City of Sacramento.

It sounds simple enough, but many pet owners tend to take care of themselves when the temperature rises and forget about their animals.? Once the temperature reaches 85 degrees, most animals begin using their coping mechanisms.

They pant, they look for water, they search for shade or a cool place to lay down.

So especially this weekend, avoid long stints outside for your animals.

Make sure they have water at all times.

Forget exercising outside with your pet because the hot asphalt can burn a dogs paws just like your bare feet.

And finally, don?t take your pets with you in the car.
