Now, a new report suggests that the company may soon begin producing its own chips from start to finish. According to SemiAccurate, Apple has bought into an unnamed chip fabricator, possibly Taiwan-based chipmaker United Microelectronics Corporation, to help the company produce its own processors and other chips. Apple had previously relied on chips produced by Samsung and more recently from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. Its manufacturing partners have struggled with keeping up with the demand for the company?s popular products, however.
